August 5, Paul McCartney is releasing a special boxed set of his first 3 solo albums: McCartney, McCartney II, & McCartney III. Fans can get the collection in a CD set, or a vinyl record set, either classic black or a limited edition color vinyl set. Each set has photos of Paul McCartney and notes about each album. Always a trailblazer for music, his albums are the perfect capstone to any decade. His first album is the quintessential album for the 70’s as a whole, with that pure acoustic sound and what he’s able to do with those instruments. McCartney II is the best capstone for the 80’s with the introduction of electronica and synth sounds and his experimentalism that has served as a jumping off point for any modern music band. McCartney III was originally released in 2000, but it holds Paul McCartney’s classic sound that could fit into any decade. To me, this one holds more of a blues feel to the songs, and is personally my favorite.
What I loved about listening to this collection from start to finish, was its anthology of McCartney’s music. It was like a history lesson spanning over 30 years with each distinct period in its own album. I especially love the variety of the music on the albums, where not all songs even have any vocals on the track. This shows what a musical genius Paul is, no matter the instrument, and his talent for creating good music.
This box set is a necessary addition for any collection for old and new Paul McCartney fans. It’s such a great value for what comes in the box.
