OF MICE & MEN are one of those bands that I was late to discover. I was instantly blown away by their immense talent when I watched them play for the first time. And whenever they play a show I can attend; I am first in line to see them. Aaron Pauley (Lead Vocals) is a force to reckon with. A ridiculously talented writer and vocalist. Not too many people can so graciously tell you a story, while perfectly balancing a harmonic voice with an epic metalcore scream the way that Aaron can. He blows me away every time I watch OM&M play.
I was extremely stoked to see they had new music coming out this year. As we all know, 2020 was a rough year on the music scene. But it was a great year for creativity. A lot of great music is coming out from a lot of great bands. And the new OF MICE & MEN music is no exception. The song “TIMELESS”, is the first of three songs that have been released so far in 2021 from the band.
“TIMELESS” is a perfect example of how well balanced this band truly is. Heavy, melodic, and eerily beautiful. It is, in itself. timeless. “OBSOLETE” is probably my favorite release thus far. The heavy drum performance from the talented Valentino Arteaga (Drums), and the epic riffs from Guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, give this song the momentum it needs to stick with you all day and make you randomly bang your head as you replay it in your head. “ANCHOR” is the third release. It ventures away from what I am used to hearing the from the band and previous albums. But I dig it. And after hearing the latest trio of music released by OM&M, I am super excited for the rest of the album to come out. It will be on the band’s seventh full length. The album is anticipated to arrive sometime this year.
