Live music returned to the Northern Virginia area Saturday night as Luke Bryan brought his ‘Proud to Be Right Here’ tour to Jiffy Lube Live. The concert was the first show in nearly twenty months, and fans were eager to get inside the venue and let loose with one of country music’s superstars. Luke Bryan is touring in support of his latest release, Born Here Live Here Die Here, which was released back in August of 2020. The album, his seventh studio album debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 and has produced five singles. The album, including an expanded deluxe edition, can be purchased HERE.
The tour which initially was planned for 2020 but had to be rescheduled due to the Covid pandemic kicked off in Syracuse, NY on July 8th. The tour which features special guests, Caylee Hammack, and Dyan Scott will crisscross the country playing 36 cities before wrapping up in Welch, MN on September 3rd. Fans won’t have to wait long to catch 2021’s ACM Entertainer of the Year back out on the road, as he will kick off his ‘Farm’ tour on September 9th in Marshall, WI. Fans can purchase tickets for all remaining tour dates HERE.
Caylee Hammack, touring in support of her debut album If It Wasn’t For You got things started for the evening as fans began to make their way into the venue. Rolling Stone declared Caylee as one of Nashville’s “Artists to Watch” and in 2020 she won the Academy of Country Awards Musical Event of the Year for “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with Miranda Lambert. The night’s opening set included Caylee’s two singles, “Just Friends,” and “Family Tree” as well as Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and Eric Church’s “Smoke a Little Smoke.” Fans can purchase If It Wasn’t For You HERE.

Next up was Dylan Scott, who replaced Morgan Wallen who decided not to tour this summer. Dylan kept the energy level building thru his set that included the singles “New Truck” and “My Girl.” During “My Girl” Dylan handed the mic to a seven-year-old fan in the front row to sing along, she would later catch Luke Bryan’s eye as well and be brought on stage to sing a song with the superstar.

Closing out the night was country superstar Luke Bryan, who just happened to be celebrating his 45th birthday. By the time Luke took to the stage, Jiffy Lube Live was filled with over fifteen thousand fans ready to let loose and have a good time. Fans rose to their feet as the lights dimmed and a large disco ball was lit up and slowly raised above the center of the stage before the curtains opened and Luke took to the stage with a “What’s up Bristow, welcome to my birthday party” and kicked the night off with “That’s My Kind of Night.” From there it was “Rain Is a Good Thing” which was fitting as thunderstorms had passed thru the area earlier in the evening. Luke was in great spirits as both himself and the fans seemed to be happy to be back at a concert venue performing and enjoying live music once again. During “Huntin Fishin and Lovin Everyday” Luke messed up his guitar solo and joked with the crowd that he had been doing so well and that it was his birthday and he needed a birthday shot. He was quickly brought a shot and toasted the crowd for coming out on a Saturday night. The venue might as well have had all the seats removed prior to the show as no one was using them as fans stayed on their feet dancing and singing along throughout the night. Throughout the night Luke thanked the crowd for coming out and supporting him and letting them know how thankful he was to be back on stage and performing again. At the end of “Waves,” Luke brought a young fan up on stage from the front row who had been singing along word for word with Luke. The singer gave her a big hug and kept her on stage with him to sing along to “Down To One” before returning her back to the front row to continue enjoying the show. Of course, it wouldn’t be a birthday party without some birthday cake. Luke’s band and crew along with Caylee Hammack and Dylan Scott all returned to the stage to join the audience and singing “Happy Birthday” to Luke. Overall it was a spectacular night of country music, and Luke Bryan is never one to disappoint.
