Lady Gaga’s Chormatica

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

Lady Gaga is at is again, releasing gold with Chromatica. This album goes back to Lady Gaga’s pop roots, but is also a great tribute to her evolution in music style. The vocal dynamo-turned actress set her album like a cinematic masterpiece in itself with intermission breaks that transition the album into different styles. With A-listers, Elton John and Arianna Grande, joining her for duets, it’s just another reason why Gaga is Queen.

“Rain On Me” has Ariana Grande joining. Their voices harmonize and compliment the other perfectly. The song is so upbeat, the somber lyrics of heartbreak are masked with “Water like misery, it’s coming down on me” among the dance beat.

“Free Woman” is another fun song with a dance beat, and empowering lyrics that have you chanting “I’m a free woman” with Gaga. It’s such an anthem song for women overcoming hardships, especially after reading that this song came from Lady Gaga healing from a sexual assault.

“Sine From Above” is her duet with Elton John. The beginning of it stands out from the rest of the album, but it morphs into the dance-techno vibe the rest of the album holds. They make the perfect pair, that I was so glad to see they came together again to produce this song. I don’t normally think of EDM with Elton John, but it’s a great genre for his voice, and Lady Gaga is the perfect accompaniment for this new sound from him.

This album has so many layers. I’m a huge Gaga fan, but I particularly like this album because it has those great dance vibes that makes it a fun listen, but going into the lyrics, there’s so much emotion behind them. Then reading what actually has gone behind the album, and how healing the whole album is, it’s so encouraging and healing. This is one of those albums that the listener will get something out of it every single time they listen to it.
