It’s not officially a summer concert series until Jason Aldean rolls into town. Sunday night Jason and crew rolled into Jiffy Lube Live for the third night of the ‘Rock n’ Roll Cowboy’ tour. The tour which is in support of Jason’s latest releases Macon and Georgia will crisscross the country before finally wrapping up on October 29th in Wichita, KS.
The tour has several opening acts slated to open on various nights of the tour, on Sunday it was John Morgan and Gabby Barrett tagged for the opening slots, and of course it wouldn’t be a Jason Aldean concert without Dee Jay Silver filling in between acts.
Singer and Songwriter John Morgan got things started on the hot Sunday night. Best known for his hits “Trouble With A Heartbreak,” “If I Didn’t Love You,” “Coldest Beer in Town,” “Right In The Middle,” as well as “Good With Goodbye” played a short set as the crowd made their way into the pavilion.
Next up was Gabby Barrett, Gabby’s set included her two number one hits “The Good Ones,” and “I Hope”. The rest of the set was rounded out with numerous covers like “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'”.
In between sets Dee Jay Silver kept fans entertained, up on their feet, and dancing in the aisles while the crew got the stage setup and prepped for Jason Aldean.
Closing out the night was the man everyone had come out to see, Jason Aldean. With twenty-seven number one singles under his belt, Jason had plenty of material to choose from when putting together his roughly ninety minute set. Jason wasted no time getting right to it as he opened with “Lights Come On” to a packed pavilion. Unlike previous tours this tour sees a little more stripped down production with no elaborate stage setup, entrance, or pyro, instead focusing more on the shows lighting and huge led board that fills the stage. Plenty of new songs from Macon and Georgia made the night’s setlist with “That’s What Tequila Does,” “If I Didn’t Love You,” “Heaven,” and “Trouble with a Heartbreak” all making it into the twenty-three song set.
