The co-headlining tour featuring Jamey Johnson and Blackberry Smoke made a stop in Doswell, VA on Friday night playing a packed Atlantic Union Bank After Hours.

Megan Moroney got things started for the evening as fans poured into the venue. The country singer who dropped her debut EP, Pistol Made Of Roses, back in July commented on this being her first tour, and thanked the crowd for coming out early to catch her set. Megan also released her latest single “Tennessee Orange” which made the night’s brief setlist. Look for Megan Moroney to continue touring thru November, fans can see all the current tour dates HERE

Blackberry Smoke performed an acoustic set for the evening. Drummer Brit Turner who suffered a heart attack back in August was still home resting, Preston Holcomb has been filling in in his absence. Vocalist Charlie Starr joked with the fans that doing the acoustic sets has been the first time he’s been able to sit down during a show in twenty-one years. The setlist for the night was a slid mix from the band’s discography and included several songs from the latest release, You Hear Georgia. In between songs Charlie would interact with the crowd making comments about the VIP area, and the hemp booth that was set up near the stage. The guys kicked things off with “Good One Comin’ On,” and “Hey Delilah.” One of my favorite songs of the night was “Old Scarecrow” from the latest release. I would liked to have heard more from You Hear Georgia, and even seen a longer set which included older material, but with a limited set time and so much great material to choose from the guys put together the perfect setlist. They included The Charlie Daniels Band cover of “Long Haired Country Boy” and Jamey Johnson joined them on stage for “Lonesome for a Living’.” The guys would return the favor joining Jamey during his set for a trio of songs. The night wrapped up with “Ain’t Much Left of Me.”

Closing out the night was eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson. Jamey Johnson has been labeled as “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” and is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards from both the CMA and ACMs. Jamey didn’t disappoint on this night as he seventeen song set for the packed house at Atlantic Union Bank After Hours. Jamey’s set kicked off with “Heartache,” and included other hits like, “In Color,” “That Lonesome Song,” “High Cost of Living,” and “Mowin’ Down the Roses.” As stated earlier Blackberry Smoke returned to the stage to perform several covers before the night wrapped up with, “Lead Me Home.”
