The Philadelphia Flyers rewrote the franchise record books Saturday night with three goals in just 26 seconds, defeating the New Jersey Devils 6-3 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in a historic first-period performance.

With the game tied 1-1 late in the opening frame, Matvei Michkov ignited the barrage at 12:06 with a breakaway tally for his fifth goal of the season. Tyson Foerster then took over, converting at 12:15 and again at 12:32 to complete his sixth and seventh goals of the campaign.

The 26-second sequence shattered Philadelphia’s previous franchise record of 35 seconds, set in 1979 against Boston and matched in 1982 versus Quebec. It also stands as the fourth-fastest three-goal stretch in NHL history, trailing only Boston (20 seconds, 1971), Washington and Chicago (21 seconds each in 1990 and 1952), and Montreal Maroons (24 seconds, 1932).

All three tallies came at even strength, with Foerster’s back-to-back markers in 17 seconds marking the quickest pair by a Philadelphia player since Jeff Carter’s 13-second double against Atlanta in January 2008.

Noah Cates sparked the comeback earlier in the period, capitalizing on Jake Allen’s errant clearing attempt at 9:00 to erase Timo Meier’s power-play goal from 7:37. Cates finished with a goal and two assists for a three-point night.

Bobby Brink pushed the advantage to 5-1 at 11:42 of the second period, and Trevor Zegras sealed it with a breakaway tally at 15:21 of the third.

Nico Hischier battled for New Jersey with two goals and an assist while dominating the faceoff circle at 60.9%. Jesper Bratt factored into all three Devils goals with three assists, extending his point streak.

Dan Vladar made 32 saves for Philadelphia (11-6-3), which has won three of four. Allen stopped 23 shots but was beaten six times for New Jersey (13-7-1), which dropped its third straight to close a disappointing 2-3-0 road trip.

The Devils continue to struggle without captain Jack Hughes, who remains out 6-8 weeks with a finger injury.
