Five Finger Death Punch At Jiffy Lube Live Bristow, VA 9-10-2022

Written By: Brandon Delano

The co-headlining tour featuring Five Finger Death Punch and Megadeth made its stop at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA on Saturday night. Both bands recently dropped new albums, 5FDP dropped their ninth studio album, After Life in August and Megadeth dropped their sixteenth studio album, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! September 2nd.

The night got started with Austin’s Fire From The Gods, the band is set to release their fourth studio release, Soul Revolution on October 28th. Vocalist AJ Channer and crew definitely set the tone for the evening with their style of rap metal. The short seven song set kicked off with the title track from the upcoming release, “Soul Revolution,” which was the only song from the upcoming release to make the set. The rest of the set was rounded out with “Right Now,” “American Sun,” “The Voiceless,” and wrapped up with “Excuse Me.”

Mongolian folk metal band The Hu were up next and provided something different for the metal fans in the crowd. Their Mongol/Turkic empire style of music, known as Hünnü in Mongolia, includes a mixture of Mongolian war cries and poetry in their lyrics.

Up next was co-headliner Megadeth, whos latest release, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! is making a lot of noise on the music charts. The album has hit the number three position of Billboard’s Top 200. Megadeth played a rather short eleven song set considering the vast amount of material they have to pull from, but the set and show were both incredible. Surprisingly only one track from the latest release made the night’s setlist, that being “We’ll Be Back.” The set kicked off with “Prince of Darkness,” and included fan favorites like, “Hangar 18,” “Angry Again,” “Peace Sells,” and wrapped up with “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” a complete setlist is below. Megadeth haven’t announced any touring plans after wrapping up things with Five Finger Death Punch, but do have one festival appearance lined up for December 4th at the Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico. Five Finger Death Punch has had some changes to their lineup since the last time they played Jiffy Lube Live, Charlie Engen replaced Jeremy Spencer on drums and most recently Andy James replaced Jason Hook on lead guitars. The recent lineup changes haven’t slowed the band down or taken away from their live performance which has always been top notch. The band’s latest release, After Life hit number one on the Billboard US Top Hard Rock Albums chart and number two on the US top Rock Albums charts, proving that after seventeen years the band still has what it takes to top the charts. “IOU” and “Welcome to the Circus” were the only songs from the latest album to make the night’s setlist, the rest of the sixteen song set was rounded out with hit after hit. Five Finger Death Punch will waste little time when their current tour wraps up on October 15th, the guys will head out on a massive arena tour with Brantley Gilbert, that tour is slated to kick off on November 9th and wrap up on November 17th in the band’s hometown of Las Vegas.
