Eddie Vedder's Ukulele Songs

A decade after its original release, UMe/Republic records is releasing a Deluxe and Standard Edition LP of Eddie Vedder’s Ukulele Songs.  It was originally produced by Eddie Vedder himself and Adam Kasper (Producer on Soundgarden and Foo Fighter albums).

This album features covers of “More Than You Know,” and “Once In A While,” and “Dream A Little Dream.”

“Sleepless Nights” features Glen Hansard. He adds his Irish folk style to the track, his dulcet voice is an excellent pair with Eddie’s voice.

“Tonight You Belong To Me” also features a guest vocalist, Cat Power. The harmonizing between the male and female voices on this track lulls you into day dreaming. It immediately brought me to a campfire scene with Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters duetting this song.

The final song, “Dream A Little Dream” has been covered by so many, but this version has stood out with the ukulele and the improvisation in the melody with Eddie Vedder’s voice.

This album was no. 4 on Billboard’s 200 list, and no. 2 on the U.S. Top Rock Albums on Billboard when it was first released. I feel like it’s been forgotten, so I’m very excited for this release, and it’s such a soothing album, featuring an underrated instrument.
