Dierks Bentley made a stop in Wilmington at the Live Oak Bank Pavillion on September 12 as part of his Gravel And Gold tour, supporting his brand new album of the same name. He’s supported by Lee Brice and Tanner Usrey on this tour.
Having a concert on a weeknight didn’t stop anyone from coming out. The venue was packed with more people than I’ve ever seen at Live Oak! Tanner Usrey began his set right at 7 as the sun began setting behind him with the water to his side, kicking the night off the best way possible!
While most people were still filtering in during the first 2 acts, during Lee Brice, not a single person was sitting. From the stage, it looked like a parking…sparking an energetic performance of Parking Lot Party at the beginning of his set, and setting the tone for the evening that everyone was there for a party.
Dierks Bentley came out with bright flashing lights and went in right away with “Gold” off his new record. The rest of the night was a mix of his classic hits, new hits, and tributes to other great artists, including Toby Keith with Red Solo Cup and Tom Petty with American Girl.
His entire set brought on nostalgia from country summers, and it connected fans of every age singing every word to every song and dancing in the aisles. This is definitely a show to see, and for those Letterkenny fans, it’s time to forgive Dierks for what happened with Katie Kat and see him live.
The next stop on the Gravel and Gold tour is in Michigan September 19, and they’ll make their way across the states before the tour ends October 19 in Florida. For DB fans, head to his website for tour news, special merch, his own brand of bourbon, and there’s a line of western shirts on his site you can own, that you’ll also see on stage during his set.
