Bring Me The Horizon release new EP- Post Human-Survival Horror

Year Two Thousand and Twenty will forever be forged in our memories for many reasons. But, my favorite memories from this year will be all the great songs that were released by one of my favorite bands. Bring Me The Horizon (BMTH) has been throwing out new music left and right this year. And once again, they have created more music that is completely different from their original sound, and it suits them perfectly. Some old school fans of BMTH will still get that they haven’t reverted to their old sound. But this album is a continuation of their growth and maturity as a band. And those who hate their new sound should take a step back and really give them a chance to change their mind. Because they may notice their music still has some of the Deathcore sound we heard in Suicide Season, it is just displayed in a more sophisticated manner. The October 30, 2020 release of Post Human- Survival Horror is a manifestation of true creativity, growth, and some inspiration from the game Doom Eternal. It also displays their never-ending talent of being able to tell a story and create music with variety.

The EP features “Ludens”, which came out of nowhere in 2019 and blew my mind. I still play “Ludens” when I need to get hyped up. I had “Parasite Eve” on repeat for months after its release, and it still sits in the number one slot for my favorite song of the year. I personally think it should go down as the theme song for 2020, but one could only wish. “‘Dear Diary” is one hell of an opener. Dishing out grievances we all can relate to. For a nu-metal vibe, check out “Teardrops”. Also, if you like random guest appearances, this EP features talents from a few different genres. These include BabyMetal, Nova Twins, YUNGBLUD, and mega-talent Amy Lee. Amy can be heard on the song “One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death”. It is a duet with Oli and Amy, and I am just in awe. My jaw is still on the floor. It is haunting. It is chilling. It is amazing. The only song that is not a solid 10 for me is “Kingslayer” even though it is pretty damn close to being a 10. I can appreciate the talents of the band behind the Ladies of BABYMETAL, but their voices do nothing for me in the song.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when this EP was released because each new release has been so different than the last. But I am definitely happy with what we got. The range of talent this band has is beyond me.  With a heavier sound this time around, it is definitely more appealing to the hard rocker in me than some of their previous releases. Go check it out for yourself by snagging it at the band’s official website www.bmthofficial.com. Or download from services such as Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes and Deezer.

I give Post Human-Survival Horror a 9.5 out of 10.
