Billy Idol brought his signature brand of rock ‘n’ roll and rebel spirit to The Anthem in Washington DC for an electrifying performance that left the audience craving for more. Throughout the night, Billy and his band delivered a setlist that blended his classic hits with some newer tracks, showcasing his enduring talent and relevance in the music industry. Billy Idol, with his iconic sneer and punk attitude, strutted onto the stage and kicked the night off with “Dancing with Myself.” Billy and company continued to take fans for a nostalgic trip down memory lane playing classic hits like “Flesh for Fantasy,” “Cradle of Love,” “Eyes Without a Face,” and “Mony Mony.” Sprinkled into the setlist were “Cage,” and “Running From the Ghost” both songs from his latest release Cage which was released in September of 2022. Billy Idol is the persona of classic rock-n-roll with his signature sneer and punk-rock attitude. The band’s musicianship was top-notch, with blistering guitar solos by Steve Stevens, a solid rhythm section, and backing vocals that added depth to the songs. As the concert reached its climax with the anthemic “Rebel Yell,” the entire venue seemed to vibrate with energy. Billy Idol left the stage to a deafening ovation, but the crowd knew an encore was imminent. He returned closing the night out with “Hot in the City,” and the iconic “White Wedding.” It was a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and a reminder that Billy Idol remains a true rock icon.
