Asking Alexandria’s Like a House on Fire

Written By: Sarah Carmody

2020 Has put such a disappointing chokehold on society but through this pandemic, musicians have continued to put out phenomenal albums during this time like Asking Alexandria’s latest full-length album Like a House on Fire this marks number six for them and it just gets better and evolves more with each album they release. This heavy-hitting fifteen track record is going to give the fans quite a thrill ride.

Starting this record out with latest single released “House on Fire” was a perfect placement for this track, it sets the mood for the rest of the album.  Beginning with the angelic sound coming in first makes for a great intro to this album as well as start to a live set. “Like A House On Fire” is what fans have grown to love about Asking Alexandria for many years, it also shows how they have evolved in a magnificent way. You can clearly hear the talent of each band member throughout the album, showcasing the instruments and passion that is more than obvious.

The band released a total of four singles for this album (“Antisocialist”, “Down To Hell”, “House on Fire”, and “They Don’t Want What We Want”) all making you want more, need more. Singer “Danny” continues to impress with his vocals throughout the record with this gritty tone that resonates deep within you. You feel the anticipation grow throughout the record with every song making your heart beat faster, wanting more and feeling that intense energy. A perfect symphony of heavy strong songs like “The Violence” and “Lorazapam”. Then swiftly slowing down with “I Don’t Need You” and “All Due Respect”.

Recently the band released the music video for “House on Fire” showing each band member in their own space jamming out. I am sure they had different plans for this tracks music video but given the current COVID-19 pandemic they still wanted to give the fans something. This goes to show that they care so much and appreciate their fans to keep creating in this time because as it is true for many, music helps people get through and overcome things. They may in the future do another video for that song, but as a fan, I love seeing my favorite artists doing what they love whether it’s on a stage or in their homes.

You can find a whole new merch line in their online store https://store.askingalexandria.com/collections/like-a-house-on-fire-preorder?page=1  for this record, to include shirts, hoodies, albums, masks and more. They are also signing the first 2,000 albums sold!   Asking Alexandria did have a substantial tour coming up in celebration of this album that has now been pushed to the fall as many tours have for safety reasons, hopefully, we can get back to seeing live music safely sooner rather than later. You can find this new album “Like A House On Fire” on all streaming platforms, and in stores now!

This album is incredible and the band should be immensely proud and happy with what they have created! Check them out on social media, and the badass videos they are creating on youtube!

Stay safe and hang in there, we will all be at shows again soon.
