With COVID-19 shut downs cancelling Alter Bridge’s 2020 tour, the band has taken this time off tour to create new music. Reviewing their performances from their last tour, Alter Bridge has compiled an EP with their favorite LIVE versions of their Walk The Sky album, and a new original song, “Last Rites.”
Alter Bridge is probably the only band’s live albums I actually enjoy. I’m typically not a fan of live albums, cause you miss out on the whole experience, however, Alter Bridge is able to maintain that heavy sound live throughout their performances, and the fans don’t distract from their music.
You can read the full review of their sixth studio album, Walk the Sky HERE.
“Last Rites” opens the album as the original, studio version on this EP. It begins with a super heavy intro that instantly sets the tone for the whole album. The band just released the lyric video for this among COVID shut downs. You can view it HERE. Listening to this during election week is eerily fitting with the lyrics “Scream in defiance and storm the gates. Put out a bounty that might serve you well for now, but in the end you’ll seal our fate. You don’t know where this goes, wait until tomorrow. Oh no! Here we go tomorrow.”
This Friday, this EP is available on all streaming and music purchasing platforms. You can pre-order it HERE.
I definitely recommend adding it to your library, even though it’s LIVE. Alter Bridge always hits heavy, and even with the missing element of being there in-person, the excitement and energy translates through the speakers very well on this album.
