Clark’s second buzzer-beater against the Mystics this season. Aliyah Boston records her 43rd career double-double. June 8, 2026.
Indiana Fever 78, Washington Mystics 76 CareFirst Arena, Washington, DC
Washington rallied from 17 down, took the lead on Sonia Citron’s free throws with 4.3 seconds left, and had every reason to believe this one was theirs. Then Caitlin Clark caught a crosscourt pass just in front of the logo on the left wing — alone after Cotie McMahon went for the steal and missed — and calmly drained a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining. Aliyah Boston broke up the final inbound pass and it was over. The Mystics did everything right for 39 minutes and 58 seconds. Clark just wouldn’t let them finish.
How It Happened
First Quarter: Clark took over early, scoring 10 of Indiana’s 21 first-quarter points as the Fever built a 21-16 lead. She and Aliyah Boston combined for 16 of Indiana’s 21, setting the tone for what looked like a comfortable Fever night.
Second Quarter: Clark picked up her third foul in the second quarter but Indiana still dominated, outscoring Washington 22-13 to lead 43-29 at halftime. Kelsey Mitchell provided seven second-quarter points to help cushion the advantage.
Third Quarter: Clark’s four-point play pushed the Fever lead to 17 — their largest of the game. Washington started to chip away, outscoring Indiana 24-17 in the period to cut the deficit to 60-53 heading to the fourth. The crowd found its voice.
Fourth Quarter: The Mystics completed the comeback. A Shakira Austin layup gave Washington a 74-73 lead. Clark then missed two free throws with 36 seconds left — her best opportunity to put it away — but after Austin turned it over, Clark found Mitchell in transition for a layup to go back up one with 11.3 seconds remaining. Citron cut to the basket, drew the foul, and hit both free throws to put Washington ahead 76-75 with 4.3 seconds left. After a timeout, Clark caught the crosscourt pass near the logo, McMahon went for the steal and missed, and Clark’s three hit nothing but net. Boston broke up the final inbound and Indiana survived, 78-76.
